HP has heavily discounted its latest 16-inch gaming laptop. Equipped with modern Intel processors and Nvidia graphics, the new HyperX Omen Max 16 is over $650 cheaper than it was in May. AMD models have apparently received a permanent price cut, too.
Nonetheless, HP has already discounted its gaming laptop before it begins shipping. Initially, the new Omen Max 16 started at $2,679, featuring Intel Arrow Lake HX Plus processors. Now, Intel models start at $1,999 with the Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus and a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti laptop GPU.
Some of HP’s pricing is misleading, though. Last month, it was possible to configure the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, RTX 5090, 64 GB of RAM, 2 TB of PCIe Gen 5 storage and a 240 Hz OLED display for $4,469. However, this variant now costs $4,769, allegedly down from a $5,569 MSRP.
By contrast, AMD alternatives cost at least $2,899 with the Ryzen AI 7 450 and an GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. At the time of writing, HP is charging $2,699 for that same configuration, which also contains 16 GB of RAM and a 240 Hz IPS display.
