Pedro Porro lived his “biggest dream” as he scored to help Spain reach the 2026 World Cup final.
Spain defeated France 2-0 at Dallas Stadium to book their place in the final, with Mikel Oyarzabal and Porro getting on the scoresheet for La Roja.
Spain have reached their second World Cup final after 2010, when they won the tournament; that was also the last time the reigning European champions reached the final.
Porro, meanwhile, is the second Spanish defender to score multiple goals in a single World Cup after Fernando Hierro (two in both 1998 and 2002).
The 26-year-old could not hide his excitement after reaching the final, with Spain set to face either England or Argentina.
“It’s a dream come true. Truly, it was my biggest dream,” said Porro.
“Very, very happy for the team. From the start to the end, we played a great game. We did everything possible to be able to go through.
“We knew we were facing a very, very tough team, and we did everything so well. This is a team effort; it’s not about me.
“I just want to say congratulations to everybody for producing such a great performance.”

Spain are the first team in World Cup history to keep six clean sheets at a single edition – the expected goals (xG) figure they faced of 0.3 against France is the fewest by a nation in a semi-final tie in the competition since Brazil versus Sweden in 1994 (0.1).
La Roja are also only the fourth team this century to reach a World Cup final without trailing in any of their matches, after Argentina in 2014, Italy in 2006 and Germany in 2002.
Luis de la Fuente was full of praise for his side, who are the first European team ever to win eight consecutive knockout-stage matches at major tournaments (World Cup/Euros).
“It’s hard to express what we feel, but it’s pure joy,” the Spain boss told BeIN Sports.
“This group of players is exceptional. We still have one more step to take. A lot of tension has built up; being in the final is a huge responsibility, a privilege. We have to take it all in.
“We’d already said in the locker room that we’d be facing one of the best teams in the world, with the best players in the world. But they were facing the best team in the world. Our team made the difficult look easy.”
