Spanish La Liga club Sevilla could soon lose Akor Adams, as Venezia has taken another key step toward signing the Nigerian striker, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 26-year-old forward has been linked with several clubs this summer, but it appears that newly promoted Serie A side Venezia is his most likely destination.
Initially, Los Nervionenses rejected an opening €10 million bid for Adams. Although Venezia have since settled on personal terms with the Super Eagles star, Sevilla have been holding firm to their €15 million valuation.
Nonetheless, the Leoni Alati are still pushing to get their man. In the latest development, Venezia’s sporting director, Filippo Antonelli, was spotted in Andalusia, the part of Spain where Sevilla is based. It is believed the purpose of his visit is to meet with the club officials to negotiate the transfer.
All parties appear willing to make the move happen, and negotiations should already be well underway. As reported previously, Sevilla is open to letting Adams leave, as they urgently need to raise funds to meet La Liga’s financial requirements.
Soccer Can Venezia sign Adams from Sevilla?
Usually, newly promoted Serie A clubs do not have significant transfer budgets.
However, according to Marca, Venezia has a silver lining, having enjoyed a significant cash flow following the backing of popular American artist Drake, who facilitated a €100 million investment in the club.
As such, Venezia has the capital to spend this season. Given the seriousness they are showing in this pursuit, they should be able to meet the striker’s €15 million valuation.

Meanwhile, speculation regarding Adams’ exit has been fueled by his absence from the start of Sevilla’s pre-season preparations. While Ejuke just resumed today, Adams is yet to report in Spain.
Given the fact that Adams has never played in Italy, he will be hoping to have his future resolved soon so he can return to training and focus on the new campaign.
If the deal goes through, the Super Eagles star will be expected to play a key role for Venezia in Serie A next season due to his top-flight experience.
