A 45-year-old man faces a total of 61 charges after being arrested in connection with 20 break-and-enters at businesses in the Vanier and Overbrook areas, the Ottawa Police Service has announced.

A news release said the investigation began Feb. 1 and focused on incidents occurring through June 1, with some businesses targeted more than once.

The suspect, who was not identified by police, remained in custody as of June 23 and was scheduled to appear in court on June 29. The charges against him included multiple counts of break and enter, mischief, possession of break-in instruments and breaches of probation conditions.
