“They Are Not Asking For Sharia Law Or Money”

  • A new video has emerged featuring Mrs. Alamu, the principal of the abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State.
  • In the video, she makes a heartfelt appeal regarding the situation of the captives.
  • Mrs. Alamu refutes claims circulating in media about the kidnappers’ demands, including ransom, Sharia law, and weapons.

A fresh video allegedly released by terrorists holding abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State shows the school principal, Mrs. Alamu, making a renewed appeal while rejecting widely circulated reports about the kidnappers’ demands.

In the emotional footage, Mrs. Alamu dismissed claims spreading across social and traditional media that the abductors were demanding ransom, the introduction of Sharia law, or the supply of weapons. She insisted that such reports were inaccurate and were worsening the situation of the captives.

“Pls I want to make some clarifications. Today makes it the 24th day that we have been in this place and it seems that some people are making our problems to be complicated already,” she said in the video.

She explained that the abductors had shown them various media reports alleging different demands, including large sums of money and religious conditions, but maintained that none of those claims were true.

“We were shown some print media where it was stated that these people that abducted us requested for their release. They said they requested for a billionaire naira. They requested for Sharia to be entrenched in the country. These are not true. They are just trying to create problems for us,” she added.

Mrs. Alamu further stated that the captives were not being forced into any religious practice and denied reports that the abductors had made financial or religious demands.

“We have been here since we have not been forced to worship in Islamic way. They have not troubled us concerning that. They are not asking for Sharia law. They are not asking for money. The single thing they are asking for is the release of some of their people,” she said, urging Nigerians to help spread the message.

She also appealed for understanding and swift action, stressing that the situation required negotiation rather than misinformation.

“All they want is the release of some of their people. The government will negotiate with them and know those that they will release for them,” she added.

The video surfaced amid earlier reports alleging that the abductors were demanding ransom, vehicles, and the introduction of Sharia law before agreeing to free the victims.
