Atalanta midfielder Ederson revealed his impending move to Manchester United is “almost done”, following Brazil’s victory over Haiti at the World Cup.
Ederson replaced Bruno Guimaraes from the bench in Brazil’s 3-0 win at Philadelphia Stadium on Friday, and afterwards, he was keen to address his future at club level.
Atalanta have reportedly accepted a €40.5m (£34m) fee plus €4.5m (£3.5m) in potential bonuses for Ederson to join Michael Carrick’s side ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
It is understood the Brazilian has agreed a four-year contract with an option for a further extension, as the Red Devils look to improve their midfield following Casemiro’s departure.
Ederson’s switch to Old Trafford looked set to go through in early June, but he received a late call-up to Brazil’s World Cup squad after Flamengo’s Wesley suffered an injury.
Speaking to Sky Sports Italia after Friday’s match, Ederson said: “I have to wait. Now I have to enjoy this moment, then we will see.
“Certainly, everything is almost done, but now I have to enjoy this moment. This is a wonderful experience, and you have to enjoy it the most.”

Ederson has enjoyed four impressive years at Atalanta, having helped Gian Piero Gasperini’s side lift the Europa League trophy back in 2023-24, beating Bayer Leverkusen.
Since his debut for Atalanta in 2022, only Mattia Zaccagni (959) and Bryan Cristante (991) have won more duels than Ederson’s 862, among Serie A players in all competitions.
He has made 180 appearances in all competitions for Atalanta, scoring 16 goals as well as providing five assists, while his 187 tackles rank as the fifth-highest among Serie A players since he joined the club four years ago.
