Super Eagles defender Emmanuel Fernandez has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in this summer’s transfer market, Soccernet.ng reports.
Although Fernandez only joined Rangers from Peterborough last summer in a deal worth €2.9 million, he has quickly established himself as a top defensive talent.
Last season, the 24-year-old played a pivotal role in helping Rangers secure a third-place finish in the Scottish Premiership, contributing five goals in 33 appearances across all competitions.

Standing at 6’4″, Fernandez uses his size to great effect. He is dominant in the air and physically imposing. His knack for occasionally scoring crucial goals also adds to his value. Given these standout qualities, it is little surprise that he has attracted significant interest, and it appears increasingly likely that he could be on his way out of the club.
Soccer Arsenal, Chelsea, Seven Others Want Emmanuel Fernandez

Although Fernandez was previously linked to Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea, they are not the only heavyweights monitoring the situation. A host of top clubs — including Club Brugge, Feyenoord, West Ham, Everton, Ajax, and Borussia Dortmund — are reportedly interested.
On Monday, TEAMtalk and Transfermarkt both confirmed that Bayer Leverkusen has joined the race for the Nigerian’s signature. In fact, Leverkusen is now considered the favorite to secure his services.
The main obstacle to a deal remains the transfer fee. While Transfermarkt values Fernandez at €18 million, Rangers are reportedly holding out for at least €28 million.
Given his proven qualities, Fernandez would undoubtedly be a solid addition to any side. However, it remains to be seen which club will ultimately meet the asking price to secure his signature.
