The Philadelphia Eagles are apparently signing not one but (at least) two players from the United Football League following the recent conclusion of the 2026 UFL season.
It was previously reported that the Eagles are signing DC Defenders wide receiver Erik Ezukanma. Now Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Eagles are also adding Dallas Renegades cornerback Shaun Wade to their roster.
Wade, who turns 28 in September, played college football at Ohio State before being selected by the Baltimore Ravens with a fifth-round pick (No. 160 overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft. The 6-0, 196 pound defender was then traded to the New England Patriots before the start of his rookie season.
In three years with the Pats, Wade logged 377 snaps on defense and 36 on special teams. He logged just one pass defensed and zero interceptions while making six starts in 20 total games played.
While in Massachusetts, Wade overlapped with then-Patriots cornerbacks coach Mike Pellegrino, who joined the Eagles as a secondary coach earlier this year.
After being waived by the Pats in 2024, Wade bounced on and off the Los Angeles’ Chargers practice squad before joining the Chicago Bears’ offseason roster in 2025. Wade missed the 2025 season due to injury before joining the Renegades as a Phase 6 selection in the 2026 UFL Draft.
For what it’s worth, Wade was the UFL’s highest-graded cornerback by Pro Football Focus this past season. He logged three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and five passes defensed while allowing just a mere 29.9 passer rating in coverage.
Now in Philly, Wade will compete to earn a spot as a depth cornerback option. Cracking the 53-man roster will be tough but he could be a realistic practice squad candidate.
