Jake Paul reveals he might be forced to retire from boxing as he awaits career-defining medical scan

Jake Paul’s career in the ring could be in jeopardy.

The polarizing ex-Disney star and YouTuber has led the crossover craze in boxing over the past few years, but that may be coming to an end after what happened in his last fight.

‘El Gallo’ suffered his second professional setback last December, when Anthony Joshua brutally finished Paul in round six of their short-notice heavyweight showdown in Miami.

The Cleveland native was stopped when a devastating right hand sat him down, and Paul has still not recovered from it.

Jake Paul’s career could be over due to the broken jaw he suffered against Anthony Joshua

Jake Paul is currently focused on his Most Valuable Promotions’ entrance into the mixed martial arts world.

MVP MMA 1 will be the first event in the sport to air on Netflix, with Ronda Rousey’s comeback against Gina Carano headlining alongside returns for Nate Diaz and Francis Ngannou.

But Paul still has one eye on his own ambitions in combat sports, especially as a crucial moment approaches in the context of his continued fighting career.

“I’m getting some new scans here in a couple of days of the jaw, to get an update on the healing process,” Paul said during a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show.

Paul admitted that retirement is a real possibility, depending on what comes back in the scan.

“We’ll see what my doctors say. I think I’ll be able to get a more accurate timeframe, or (an answer of) can I even fight again.

“That is definitely within the realm of possibilities,” he continued. “It does feel a lot better as weeks go by and time goes by.

“But I definitely need to get cleared first to be able to spar… Yeah, most definitely (my fighting future is in doubt). It just depends on how the bone heals.”

Paul is 12-2 in boxing after his loss to ‘AJ’, which he entered off the back of wins over Mike Tyson and Mike Perry. His first defeat in the ring also came against a pro boxer in England’s Tommy Fury.

The 29-year-old rose to prominence in the sport by facing and defeating a number of MMA veterans, including Diaz, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, and Ben Askren.
