The Nigeria Immigration Service has assured Nigerians that the country’s land borders remain secure despite growing concerns over the Ebola outbreak spreading from the Democratic Republic of the Congo into Uganda.
Responding to public anxiety, the NIS stated that every official border point is fully manned and supported by digital surveillance systems designed to monitor irregular routes that officers cannot physically cover.
The agency explained that these technologies, combined with biometric checks, movement tracking, and strict health‑screening protocols carried out in partnership with Port Health Services and the Ministry of Health, ensure that no traveller enters Nigeria without proper clearance.
