Eagles reportedly sign undrafted defensive tackle who intended on playing college football in 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles are signing undrafted rookie defensive tackle Zion Wilson, according to a report from Ryan Fowler.

Wilson spent five years at East Carolina University before transferring to Virginia earlier this year while seeking an extension of eligibility waiver that would allow him to play college football in 2026.

Apparently that didn’t work out for him and he was included in the 2026 NFL Draft, becoming available to sign with any team after going undrafted.

The 6-3, 316 pound Wilson originally played offensive line for ECU with his first game action being a mere three snaps at right guard in 2023. He transitioned to defensive tackle in 2024, where he logged 13 snaps, in addition to playing an occasional fullback role. Wilson finally became a full-time player in 2025, producing 42 total tackles, 10 TFLs, seven sacks, and one pass deflection in 454 defensive snaps played.

Wilson might’ve become a draftable player had he been able to play for Virginia this upcoming season. Instead, he joins Eagles in an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster. Making the practice squad would be a good outcome for him so that he gets more time to develop.
