Gears of War: E-Day’s release window might have been revealed through a WWE Triplemania advert

We still don’t know much about Gears of War: E-Day, but that’s set to change next month, when the cover-based third-person shooter prequel gets its own time to shine directly after the next Xbox Games Showcase 2026. However, we might have learned about the potential release window earlier than intended.

WWE subsidiary Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide’s X account (hat tip to GamesRadar) announced on 10th May the two-night WWE Triplemania 34 event, which is coming to Ciudad de México and another city that hasn’t been revealed yet. The 34-second spot is squarely focused on the event, but its ending stretch shows Gears of War: E-Day’s logo, confirming the game as one of its bigger sponsors. The event will take place on 11th and 13th September.

Of course, a WWE Triplemania advert alone doesn’t confirm anything, and even if marketing has ramped up by September, the game could still arrive later. That said, the timing of E-Day’s big showcase suggests Xbox may be committing to a release later in 2026, and with GTA 6‘s shadow covering November, it seems logical to release the next Gears of War before it.

A September release window would also make the month an extremely busy one, with other triple-A releases like The Blood of Dawnwalker and Marvel’s Wolverine rushing to do their thing before the world belongs to Take-Two and Rockstar Games. Gears of War: E-Day should be an easy sell, in any case, as fans have been clamouring for a return to the series’ original vibes even if that comes at the expense of setting Gears 5‘s cliffhanger aside for too long.
