Former Nigeria international Taju Disu has weighed in on the 2026 UEFA Champions League final between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, Soccernet.ng reports.

The showdown, billed as a clash between the champions of England and France, will see the Gunners take on the defending European champions, who secured their first-ever continental title with a dominant 5-0 win over Inter Milan in last season’s final in Munich.

Arsenal are set to feature in their first Champions League final in 20 years, since their 2006 defeat to Barcelona, and will be hoping to finally lift the trophy for the first time in their history.

The North London side have enjoyed a brilliant European campaign, remaining unbeaten throughout the competition so far. Their run has included impressive victories over Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Sporting CP and Atletico Madrid across both the league phase and knockout rounds.

Soccer Taju Disu predicts winner of Arsenal vs PSG Champions League final

Arsenal, have been labelled “nearly men” in recent years after a run of close Premier League title races where they finished third for three straight seasons, as well as knockout exits in recent European campaigns.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side have turned things around this season and have already secured the Premier League title – their first in 22 years and will now be aiming to complete a historic double by winning their first-ever Champions League trophy.

Many football fans and former players have shared their thoughts ahead of the final, including ex-Nigerian internationals Godwin Okpara and Nwankwo Kanu, who also gave their predictions.

Speaking before the showdown, Disu joined the conversation, backing Arsenal to edge the contest. However, he warned that PSG would be a difficult opponent because of their quality and experience as defending champions.

“I hope Arsenal will win it this time because they have been in the final before and lost. It’s been a long time coming”, the ex-Nigerian defender told Footy-Africa.

“I wish them the very best of luck. It’s not going to be an easy match because PSG are a great side and defending champions, but if Arsenal can get their tactics right, they can win.”
