Fulham head coach Marco Silva has provided a positive update on the fitness of Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi ahead of their clash with Wolves this weekend, Soccernet.ng reports.

Iwobi has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury during Fulham’s goalless draw against Brentford last month. The 29-year-old started the game but was forced off in the first half after pulling up injured and was replaced by fellow Nigerian Samuel Chukwueze.

Fulham have struggled for consistency since his absence, picking up just three points from their last three league matches as their hopes of qualifying for European competition continue to fade with only two games remaining this season.

Before his recent injury setback, Iwobi, who has been a central figure in Silva’s system, had already made 27 appearances for the Cottagers this season. The 30-year-old only missed a few matches during Nigeria’s campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he helped the Super Eagle to bronze medal.

Fulham have won their last two games against Wolves and will travel to Molineux on Sunday looking to end a two-game losing streak and revive their slim hopes of an European finish in the league this season.

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi could be available again for the encounter, although it remains unclear whether he will be fit enough to start or if he will make an appearance from the bench.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Friday, Marco Silva confirmed that the Nigerian midfielder has resumed training and is back in contention for the trip to Wolves.

“Alex is back in contention for the game. Last week, he had some training sessions with us. This week, throughout the week, he’s been working with us. It’s been a good week for him”, the Portuguese said, via Fulham’s official website.

Silva then went on to praise the qualities of the Nigerian midfielder and expressed delight on his potential return to the match-day squad.

“He’s a big player for us, definitely. He’s a player who’s very versatile, who can play in many different positions. He’s also a player that can add extra quality in the decision making.

“In all aspects of the game he’s a key player for us and he’s shown it again this season. It’s a boost. Definitely, it’s a boost”, Silva concluded.

Iwobi’s possible return to action will come as a major boost for Fulham given his influence in midfield and the impact his absence has had on the team over the last few weeks.

The Super Eagles playmaker will now hope to help the Cottagers finish the campaign on a strong note. While European qualification appears unlikely after consecutive defeats, Silva’s side will still be eyeing a top half finish when they face Wolves, before welcoming Newcastle United to Craven Cottage in their final match of the campaign.
