Breaking: Plateau Gov Reacts to Yilwatda’s Emergence as APC National Chairman

The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has congratulated Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda following his successful screening and emergence as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor also extended his congratulations to other members of the party’s National Working Committee.

Naija News reports that in a statement issued on Saturday by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Mutfwang described Yilwatda’s emergence through a consensus arrangement as a demonstration of the party’s commitment to inclusive and people-oriented leadership.

He noted that the development aligns with the leadership direction of President Bola Tinubu, especially as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.

The governor commended party leaders and stakeholders for promoting unity, tolerance and reforms within the APC.

According to him, such efforts have strengthened internal cohesion and created a level playing field for members to pursue their political ambitions without rancour.

Mutfwang also acknowledged the contributions of Prof. Goshwe since his unanimous adoption in June 2025, citing efforts at reconciling aggrieved members and repositioning the party.

He highlighted key initiatives, including the reorganisation of party membership through e-registration and strategic steps aimed at ensuring sustained growth and electoral success.

Expressing confidence in the new chairman, the governor emphasised Yilwatda’s professional background in digital transformation, energy research and ICT, as well as his experience as a Resident Electoral Commissioner.

He said these credentials place him in a strong position to lead the party ahead of the next general elections.

Mutfwang also appreciated key national leaders for zoning the party’s national chairmanship position to the North Central region, particularly Plateau State.

He specifically acknowledged President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, alongside governors and other stakeholders.

The governor noted that Plateau State is endowed with individuals of integrity and proven public service records, expressing optimism that Yilwatda would strengthen unity and progressive leadership within the party.

He added that the new chairman is expected to consolidate the party’s legacy of justice, tolerance and compassion.

“On behalf of the government and peace-loving people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang congratulates Prof. Goshwe on this recognition and prays for God’s guidance, strength, good health and wisdom as he assumes this leadership role,” the statement read.
