The stage production, based on the children’s book Matilda by British author Roald Dahl, tells the story of Matilda Wormwood, a precocious child with an uncaring mother and father.

Matilda attends a school run by the tyrannical headmistress Miss Trunchbull. When she develops telekinetic powers, she discovers her own strength and dares to change her destiny.

“This exciting performance celebrates courage, imagination, and the power of standing up for what’s right,” said Kristyn Wiklanski, music theatre performance program coordinator.

Thirty students sing, act and dance their way through the production.

The show opens Friday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m., at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts Chrysler Theatre.
