Football 2027 NFL Draft Prospect Interview: Wardy Joubert, WR, Graceland University
Meet Wardy Joubert, NFL Draft prospect, and learn about his journey as a wide receiver at Graceland University.

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

Growing up, football was always around me—it wasn’t just a game, it was a way to compete, to prove something. I realized early that I loved the grind more than anything. The early mornings, the workouts nobody sees, the feeling of earning your spot—that’s what hooked me. At some point it stopped being a dream and turned into a standard for how I live my life.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Honestly, it’s the moments people don’t always see. The long bus rides, locker room talks, celebrating with my teammates after a big win. Of course big plays and games matter, but what sticks with me is the brotherhood—those moments where you realize you’re part of something bigger than yourself.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

I’d say my mom. She’s been consistent no matter what—through the highs and the lows. She showed me what it means to stay disciplined and keep going even when things aren’t perfect. That mindset carries over into how I approach football and life.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

I love that football demands everything from you—mentally, physically, emotionally. You can’t cheat it. It exposes you, but it also builds you. Every play is a chance to compete, and I love being in those moments where it’s just you versus the man across from you.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?

I’d go with Calvin Johnson. The way he dominated the game but stayed humble—that stands out. I’d want to learn how he prepared, how he handled pressure, and how he stayed consistent at that level.

What are you looking to achieve in your upcoming season?

I’m focused on being more complete—every detail, every rep. Not just stats, but impacting the game in every way I can. I want to be someone my team can rely on in any situation and help put us in position to win consistently.

What should we know about Wardy Joubert the person?

I’m disciplined, I’m consistent, and I don’t run from challenges. Off the field, I’m focused on growing—whether that’s in school, leadership, or just becoming a better man. Football is what I do, but it’s not the only thing that defines me.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

I like offenses that are multiple where you can move guys around, create mismatches, and keep defenses guessing. Anything that lets playmakers be versatile and attack different coverages, I’m all for it. It keeps the game creative and puts pressure on defenses.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I face them head-on. I don’t look for shortcuts or excuses. Whether it’s a bad game or something off the field, I take accountability, learn from it, and move forward. Adversity is part of the process you either grow from it or you don’t.

What would a team get in a player like you?

They’re getting someone who’s going to show up every day and work. Someone who’s coachable, competitive, and puts the team first. I’m going to bring energy, discipline, and consistency no matter the situation.

What stands out about your film the most?

You’ll see me finishing plays, competing every snap, and not taking plays off. I take pride in doing the little things right, not just the highlight plays.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

One of my teammates who doesn’t always get the spotlight, but does everything right blocks, runs clean routes, shows up every day. Those are the guys who really win games, even if they don’t get the recognition.
