The band blossom on their first full length…

UK dream pop group deary have shared their debut album ‘Birding’ in full.
The three-piece – Rebecca “Dottie” Cockram (guitar, vocals), Ben Easton (guitar) and Harry Catchpole (drums) – aligned around a mutual passion for guitar music at its most melodically expansive, allowing their distinctive style to germinate in the process.
Feather-soft constructions of real beauty, deary’s early singles – and a support slow alongside shoegaze doyens Slowdive – left them emboldened.
Working with revered independent Bella Union, debut album ‘Birding’ took shape across several months. 11 tracks that reinterpret shoegaze tropes from a distinctive perspective, you can hear aspects of my bloody valentine and Cocteau Twins there, alongside the stamp of Asobi Seksu, perhaps.
Sonically, it could be a lost 4AD release from 1989, but the songwriting feels distinctive, and definitively true to themselves.
Out now, the record comes equipped with a video for album cut ‘Smile’.
