Beloved and fast-growing acai and smoothie concept opens its 23rd location inside one of the capital’s premier food halls
Washington, DC (RestaurantNews.com) South Block is continuing its rapid expansion with a brand-new location inside Western Market, bringing its handcrafted acai bowls, smoothies and cold-pressed juices to one of the city’s most popular food hall destinations.
Located at 2000 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, this iconic food hall is a hub for locals, professionals and visitors looking for a variety of food and beverage options in a modern market-style setting. South Block’s arrival adds another health-forward option for guests seeking nourishment and menu items made with real, fresh ingredients.
“South Block has always been about meeting people where they are and making better-for-you food accessible,” said Amir Mostafavi, founder and CEO of South Block. “Our flexible store design allows us to bring our handcrafted acai bowls and smoothies into dynamic spaces like Western Market, creating new opportunities to serve the community and spread our mission of making people feel awesome one block at a time by spreading good vibes and fresh food.”
The opening marks South Block’s 23rd location and reflects the brand’s growth through adaptable store formats designed to operate in a variety of environments, including food halls and other non-traditional spaces. This approach has enabled scaling in a variety of unique settings, including Dulles International Airport.
The new location will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., offering guests South Block’s signature superfood bowls layered with fresh fruit and house-made granola, alongside handcrafted smoothies, cold-pressed juices and other delicious favorites designed to fuel guests throughout the day.
