Americans Abroad Midweek Preview: Adams faces Aaronson, and more

Soccer

The English Premier League’s busy schedule resumes this week with two key U.S. men’s national team players squaring off.

Tyler Adams and AFC Bournemouth welcome Brenden Aaronson and Leeds United to the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday. Adams most recently came off the bench and played 25 minutes on Saturday as the Cherries defeated Newcastle United 2-1 away from home.

The American midfielder has continued to feature off the bench following a slight injury in March, leading Bournemouth to impressive results over Arsenal and Newcastle respectively. Adams will now push to start as the Cherries’ European quest continues.

Aaronson has registered back-to-back outings with an assist as Leeds United defeated Manchester United and Wolves respectively. The veteran attacker has continued to be a lively performer in Daniel Farke’s squad, taking his goal contribution total up to nine in league play.

Leeds United are seeking to officially seal league safety, a goal that could come with a positive result on the South Coast.

Elsewhere, Malik Tillman and Bayer Leverkusen host Bayern Munich in German Cup action. Yunus Musah and Atalanta face Lazio in Coppa Italia play. Haji Wright and Coventry City return home to face Portsmouth. Aidan Morris and Middlesbrough host Sheffield Wednesday seeking to end their recent slide.
