Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has dismissed fears that Afrobeats might lose its global appeal.
Speaking in a recent interview with Yaw on Wazobia FM Lagos, the “African Queen” star expressed strong confidence in the future of the genre.
2Face argued that, unlike some negative predictions, Afrobeats is not on the verge of a fall. He noted that the large number of young talent in Nigeria ensures that music will continue to grow and succeed.
“Afrobeats can never die. If you listen to some of the young artists now, you will agree with me that the music is in safe hands,” he said.
The veteran singer specifically praised the current crop of artists for their unique styles and “special flows.” He mentioned a young artist named Fola, who recently remade his classic hit, ‘If Love Is A Crime,’ describing the vocals as smooth and amazing.
He concluded that these young stars are the lifeblood of the industry and will keep the African sound alive on the world stage.
