A pro-Bola Ahmed Tinubu campaign group, Ondo for Tinubu Consolidation (OTCG), has lauded the appointment of qualified indigenes of Ondo State into key federal positions.

The group specifically commended the appointment of Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, expressing confidence that he would bring his wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of his duties.

Mr Oyedele, an economist and public policy expert from Ikaram in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, was nominated by President Tinubu to serve as Minister of State for Finance after leading the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.

The group, under the leadership of Dr. Ezekiel Akande, also applauded the appointment of Chief Sola Iji as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Russia and Dr Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Both Iji and Ibrahim from the Southern Senatorial District of the state were appointed by President Tinubu.

Akande, in a statement issued by the group’s spokesperson, Olatubosun Awe, congratulated Oyedele on his appointment as Minister of State for Finance, describing him as a financial expert with a strong background in taxation.

According to him, the appointments reflect the President’s commitment to placing capable individuals in strategic offices in order to strengthen governance and enhance the performance of his administration.

“I want to thank Mr President for appointing the new Minister of State for Finance, Taiwo Oyedele; Ambassador Sola Iji to Russia; and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as the UN Permanent Representative. I commend President Tinubu for nominating these worthy sons of Ondo State for national assignments,” he said.

The group, which is championing the re-election bid of President Tinubu, however, advised the appointees to prioritise the wellbeing of the people over personal interests.

Mr Akande also called on the people of Ondo State to support the Tinubu administration in its quest to deliver the dividends of democracy.

He further urged residents of the state to support the group in its efforts to ensure the success of the President’s re-election bid.
