Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman has subtly urged his Atletico Madrid teammate Antoine Griezmann to stay at the club, despite the Frenchman’s agreement with Major League Soccer (MLS) side Orlando City, Soccernet.ng reports.

Lookman has hit the ground running in Madrid following his €35 million transfer from Atalanta. Since his arrival, he has developed a strong rapport with his new teammates, most notably the French forward Griezmann.

However, the former Barcelona man is now set to leave the Metropolitano at the end of this season, concluding a culminated ten-year stint at the club. Following weeks of speculation, Griezmann reportedly agreed to a deal with MLS outfit Orlando City a few weeks ago.

Consequently, he is expected to complete the move once the current campaign reaches its conclusion.

Ahead of this potential departure, Lookman was asked about his impressions of Griezmann since they began playing together; the Super Eagles star admitted that he has thoroughly enjoyed their time on the pitch.

Crucially, the 28-year-old attacker noted that Griezmann still possesses the quality to offer the team a great deal more.

Soccer What Ademola Lookman Said About Griezmann’s Orlando City Move

In a recent interview with ESPN, Lookman stated that he has relished playing alongside Griezmann and has learned significantly from the veteran.

”He’s (Griezzman) a football legend for what he’s brought to the game—for who he is and what he represents,” Lookman told ESPN when asked about his experience training with Griezmann.

”But obviously, training with him every single day, you think: ‘Wow.’ There are moments where I think: ‘Yeah, maybe you could stay a bit longer, you know?’

”To be able to see that up close every single day is something that I obviously appreciate, and I learn from him as well. It’s an absolute pleasure.”

For now, Griezmann remains focused on ending the campaign on a high note with Atletico Madrid. Although they are already out of the race for the La Liga title, they have successfully reached the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League.

They also face a massive Copa del Rey final against Real Sociedad this Saturday, where they will be looking to secure the trophy.
