T&T grab 4×1 gold | Regional Sports | trinidadexpress.com

Zaccheus Charles, Trevaughn Stewart, Makaelan Woods and Kaeden Herbert combined for Carifta Games gold in the boys’ under-20 4×100 metres relay, late on Sunday, at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium here in St George’s, Grenada.

The Trinidad and Tobago quartet got around the track in 39.64 seconds. Jamaica (39.85) and Grenada (40.18) were second and third, respectively.

Imani Mills, Noemi Theodore, Zada Charles and Alexxe Henry earned T&T girls’ under-20 4×1 silver in 44.17 seconds.

There was silver too for T&T in the boys’ under-17 sprint relay, Christian Parks, Jaquan Douglas, Dario Tavernier and Isaiah Teesdale teaming up for a 41.56 seconds run.

In the girls’ under-17 4×1, Daija Reid, Jael Peters, Eden Chee-Wah and Xiah Tobias bagged bronze for T&T in 46.10. Bahamas won in a Games record time of 44.10, with second spot going to Jamaica in 45.02.

T&T’s Seannah Parsons added girls’ under-20 long jump bronze to the triple jump gold she had grabbed on Saturday. Parsons produced a 5.76 metres leap. Belize jumper Brooklyn Lyttle was golden at 6.16, with silver going to Curacao’s Rivka Goede (5.80).

T&T thrower Ezekiel Williams finished fifth in the boys’ under-20 javelin with a 57.24 metres effort. And Lemuel Ogbeifun went over the bar at 1.90m for ninth spot in the boys’ under-20 high jump.

T&T had no representation in yesterday’s girls’ under-17 800m final. The 1500 champion Nyla Kerr and silver medallist Oshea Cummings did progress to the two-lap championship race, but were then disqualified.

Team manager Cuquie Melville told the Express, yesterday, that after reviewing video evidence from Sunday’s qualifying round, she accepted the decision. Kerr stepped on the curb more than once, while Cummings impeded another athlete.

Also on Sunday, J’dani Williams and his T&T teammate Mikael Serrette were eliminated in the boys’ under-17 800m. Williams was 14th fastest in 2:04.85, while Serrette was 16th in 2:06.29.
