Osimhen Urges Galatasaray To Stay Focused Ahead Of Liverpool Clash

Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, has urged Galatasaray to remain focused and avoid complacency ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash with Liverpool F.C. on Tuesday.

Naija News reports that Victor Osimhen’s Galatasaray have been paired with Liverpool in the Champions League round of 16.

After inspiring Galatasaray to a narrow 1-0 win over Beşiktaş J.K. in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday, Victor Osimhen reflected on the victory and described it as a moral boost for the league table-toppers.

Osimhen, 27, whose first-half strike proved decisive in the tense encounter at the Tüpraş Stadium in Istanbul, warned that the focus must quickly shift to the Champions League clash against Liverpool.

“This victory [Galatasaray’s 1-0 win against Beşiktaş] will boost our morale. We need to keep our feet on the ground. Liverpool are a very big team,” Osimhen said as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.

“We will be playing at home. If we are careful, we can do well, even if it’s not easy. All matches in the Champions League are tough. We will fight to do well.”

Osimhen also praised his teammates for their resilience during the derby, particularly after Galatasaray were reduced to ten men during the game.

“It was a tough opponent. There were thousands of fans. We had momentum at the start, we scored the goal,” he said.

“We struggled after the red card. I congratulate my teammates for their strength. We fought very aggressively until the very end. I’m very happy.

“I’m following my coach’s instructions. Some teammates excited and motivated me. After the goal, they called me back to defend.

“I love this club very much. I’m proud of my team. We are showing unity. We need to take it game by game.”
