Windsor police have issued an arrest warrant for one suspect and are asking for the public’s help identifying a second person after an employee was assaulted at a downtown business.

Officers responded shortly after 3 p.m. on March 14 to reports of an assault at a store located in the 500 block of Ouellette Avenue.

Following an investigation, police learned that a female suspect had initially visited the downtown business, made a purchase, then left.

However, police said she returned “a short time later” accompanied by a male suspect and claimed that she had purchased the wrong product.

This resulted in a verbal altercation between the suspects and an employee at the store, police said.

According to police, the male suspect started throwing an damaging items in the store. Police said the pair of suspects assaulted the employee. The male suspect allegedly used a store item to strike the employee multiple times.

Police said the employee’s injuries were non-life-threatening.

Windsor police have issued a warrant for the arrest of the 37-year-old male suspect. He is wanted on charges of assault with a weapon, assault, and mischief under $5,000.

The male suspect is described as black, 5’8″ tall, with a slender build and dreadlocks.

Police are still working to identify the second female suspect involved in the incident.

She is described as a black female, approximately 30 to 45 years old, 5’4” tall, with a medium build, and black hair. At the time of the incident, police said she was wearing a grey sweater, beige toque, blue jeans, and black-and-white running shoes.
