Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray have confirmed that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has returned to first-team training after three weeks on the sidelines, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian star has been undergoing rehabilitation following surgery to repair a fractured forearm. Recall that Osimhen sustained the injury during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg clash against Liverpool just before the recent international break.

The former Napoli star spent the past week focused on personalized gym work and individual drills, Galatasaray released an update on Saturday confirming that Osimhen has finally rejoined his teammates.

However, the club noted that he is still following a specialized routine to ensure he is match-ready as soon as possible.

”Victor Osimhen trained with the team during the first part of the session and continued his work according to a specialized program prepared for him, accompanied by physiotherapists on the field and in the gym,” the club stated.

With the Super Lig title race heating up in the closing weeks of the season, Osimhen’s return is being fast-tracked. Training photos revealed the striker wearing a cast on his injured hand.

As a result, he will be required to play with the aid of a custom brace. According to reports from the Turkish media, the brace is constructed from a material four times stronger than steel, yet remarkably lightweight.

This safety measure mirrors the protective mask he has worn since his head collision three years ago. Given that a re-injury could be season-ending or even career-ending, Galatasaray are taking every possible precaution to ensure his safety.

The objective is to have Osimhen fully fit for the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26. A victory in that fixture would all but secure the Super Lig title for Galatasaray.
