The songwriter makes a subtle but powerful return…
20 · 03 · 2026
Mathilda Homer has shared her new single ‘Pretty In Blue’.
The songwriter first caught our ear during the pandemic, sharing a pair of riveting EPs. Since then, Mathilda Homer has embarked on a new challenge – becoming a mother, she now lives on a farm with partner and collaborator Isaac Waddington.
Marking her return, new single ‘Pretty In Blue’ is the work of a mature talent, but no less precocious.
Easy-on-the-ear – she always was a master with melody – the track’s honeyed tones mask an expiration of feminine self-worth in a patriarchal society.
Penned for a friend, ‘Pretty In Blue’ becomes something much more universal.
“I wrote ‘Pretty In Blue’ after seeing my best friend in quite a dark place, feeling like her worth was tied up in her unbelievably beautiful looks,” Homer says. “In a world of diet culture and women constantly being measured against beauty standards, I wanted to remind her she’s everything else too, hilarious, kind, thoughtful, and brilliant beyond that. She’s a rockstar, and I needed her to know.”
Tune in now.
