Americans Abroad Midweek Preview: Zendejas, Cardoso, and more

Soccer

Alex Zendejas and Club America will look to claim a second MLS scalp in this season’s CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Zendejas and Club America visit Nashville SC on Tuesday in quarterfinal action, with both teams seeking a strong start to the series. The 28-year-old has continued to be a key threat for Andre Jardine’s attack this season, scoring nine goals and adding five assists in all competitions.

Although Zendejas hasn’t scored or assisted in his last five appearances, he remains a consistent starter for the club.

After not being called in for March U.S. men’s national team duty, Zendejas will hope that a strong two months will be enough to force him into Mauricio Pochettino’s final World Cup roster in May.

Elsewhere, Chris Richards and Lennard Maloney kick off Conference League quarterfinal action. Rokas Pukstas and Hajduk Split take on Istra 1961 in Croatian league play.
