They Were Afraid of What El-Rufai Might Do — Dalung Drops Bombshell

According to a report by Vanguard indicates that Solomon Dalung shared his views during an interview aired on Trust TV’s YouTube channel and published on Thursday, March 26, 2026. His statements come at a time when public interest has intensified regarding the legal and political circumstances surrounding former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

During the discussion, Dalung contended that El-Rufai’s choice to willingly present himself to authorities may not have worked in his favor. He argued that such compliance potentially diminished any form of pressure or opposition that might have shaped the outcome differently. According to him, resisting or delaying engagement with authorities could have altered how events unfolded.

Dalung further emphasized that prominent politicians, especially those with significant followings, often encounter difficult choices when facing legal scrutiny. He noted that their decisions are rarely isolated, as they can trigger broader political and social consequences beyond the immediate issue at hand.

In addition, Dalung claimed that there had been a prior attempt by security operatives to apprehend El-Rufai at an airport, which he said did not succeed. He suggested that this failed effort may have prompted authorities to rethink their approach in handling the matter.

He also pointed out that the potential reaction of El-Rufai’s supporters may have played a role in shaping official actions. Dalung implied that concerns about possible unrest or instability could have influenced decisions, particularly if an arrest was perceived as provocative. His remarks contribute another perspective to the ongoing national conversation about the situation.

El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State, continues to hold a significant position in Nigeria’s political sphere. Developments involving him have attracted widespread attention from political observers and the general public alike.

Dalung’s comments also highlight broader issues relating to governance, the exercise of political power, and the conduct of security agencies in high-profile matters. Cases involving influential figures often invite heightened scrutiny, both of institutional actions and individual decisions.

He said, “The government is so scared of El-Rufai, that was why they thought he was going to act and they need to take him into custody. They attempted at the airport and it failed and then they realized that trying to arrest him may instigate insurrection.”
