Bouygues UK has signed the contract for the second phase of the Tustin Estate regeneration in south east London, which will deliver 284 homes for Southwark Council in partnership with residents.
Bouygues UK said phase two of the estate renewal in Southwark would provide 279 council homes and five shared-equity homes for returning leaseholders. The contractor is continuing on the scheme as both developer and contractor after completing phase one.
The project will also include landscaped communal courtyards, public realm works and improvements to Tustin Common. Bouygues said the homes would remain connected to the South East London Combined Heat and Power district heating network.
The firm said phase two had been designed to achieve an 85 per cent reduction in carbon emissions against Part L. It said the carbon savings would come partly from the district heating link and its wider low-carbon design approach.
Southwark Council is the client on the regeneration scheme.
dRMM Studio Architects is working with residents and Bouygues on the design, with consultation covering features including estate signage and interior colour schemes.
Oliver Campbell, managing director for development at Bouygues UK, said: “Tustin Estate is a community with deep roots, and it deserves a developer who is equally committed to its future. We are proud to be Southwark’s long-term partner in delivering genuinely affordable homes.”
Manon Smits, development manager at Bouygues UK, said residents had been involved in shaping the plans with the project team and architect.
Bouygues said continuity between the phase one and phase two teams would help maintain the approach established on the first part of the scheme.
