Queen Camilla’s son has recently revealed a royally-endorsed recipe for creating the ultimate iced coffee. Tom Parker Bowles, 51, explained that this drink is regularly offered at both Royal and main tea tents throughout garden parties.
In his 2024 book, Cooking and the Crown, he said: “A Garden Party stalwart, served in both the royal and main tea tents alike. The key is to use good coffee (this is not the time for instant) and not make it TOO sweet.”
If you’re keen to give Tom’s regal recipe a go, he initially suggests collecting these ingredients:
- Milk
- Ice cubes
- Double cream
- Brown sugar
- Coffee
Tom believes the drip method is among the finest approaches for brewing coffee. It usually involves slowly pouring hot water over ground coffee through a filter.
The US-based National Coffee Association previously explained that such a method is often achievable using a machine and will likely create a consistent ‘bright-tasting beverage’. According to the Mirror, it said: “The machine does most of the work, and there are a wide range of drip coffee makers available, including many affordable options.”
After brewing, let the coffee cool briefly before putting it in a blender. At this point, Tom mentioned you can include cream, sugar, ice, and milk. “Blend until smooth and pour into two glasses,” he wrote.
You may be surprised to hear this isn’t the only beverage famous among members of the Royal Family. Reports from Hello! and MailOnline suggest the Princess of Wales regularly sips a ‘green juice’ in the mornings.
This mixture is said to contain a strong combination of kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, coriander, blueberries, spirulina powder, and a small teaspoon of matcha powder. Four of these ingredients are often regarded as ‘superfoods’, which are highly nutritious items.
Tom’s book Cooking and The Crown boasts more than 100 recipes from Queen Victoria’s reign to our present King Charles III. It includes lavish meals like “Pommes Elizabeth” and “Pudding au Pain et aux Cerises”, alongside other simpler classics you can test at home.
