Is Jordyn Tyson’s injury history a red flag for the Saints?

There’s been buzz about the New Orleans Saints targeting one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft with the eighth overall pick, and Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson checks nearly every box as a dynamic offensive playmaker—except one: durability.

The 21-year-old spent the past three seasons with the Sun Devils after transferring from Colorado. Tyson hauled in 61 of his 97 targets for 711 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior, earning an 82.9 overall grade from Pro Football Focus—ranking 36th among 676 eligible wide receivers—along with an 85.3 receiving grade that placed 32nd.

However, injuries have plagued Tyson’s collegiate career. In 2022, he tore his ACL, MCL and PCL after appearing in nine games for the Buffaloes. After transferring in 2023, Tyson played in only the final three games of the season while continuing to recover. As a junior in 2024, he suffered a fractured clavicle that required surgery, and this past season he missed three games with a hamstring injury.

Altogether, the wideout missed 17 of a possible 51 games—roughly 33 percent—over his four-year college career.

While his talent is undeniable and he would provide an immediate spark to the Saints’ offense—giving Tyler Shough another dynamic playmaker—the risk attached to his injury history may not be one New Orleans can afford to take after fielding injury-plagued rosters in recent seasons.
