Alex Iwobi’s father debunks robbery claims, issues update on his son

The stories concerning Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi suffering an attack from burglars in his home have been confirmed to be false, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 29-year-old was said to have been at knifepoint following Fulham’s 3-1 win over Burnley at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

It was also reported that the supposed burglars carted away about 200,000 pounds in cash and items worth more than double that, but the reports have been confirmed to be a hoax.

The former Arsenal midfielder was recently named on the Football Black List alongside Jess Carter and Eberechi Eze, for recognition of their off-field impact in the sport.

After receiving several calls regarding the safety of his son, Iwobi’s father, Chuba, revealed there was nothing like a robbery or burglary at his son’s place.

“Alex is fine, and there was absolutely no attempt to burgle his house,” Chuba Iwobi told journalist Colin Udoh.

I have just spoken to Chuka Iwobi, and he says there is absolutely no truth to reports that his son @alexiwobi was burgled.

“He left for Turkey this morning, preparing for the friendlies. It’s so annoying that a person can actually spread such falsehoods just for a few clicks.

“Calls and enquiries from well-wishers have inundated me, and I have spent unnecessary time explaining that this is a made-up story.”
