Entertainment Pan-Asian entertainment company Pacific Music Group just announced a partnership with Timbaland’s Stage Zero to sign AI artist TaTa Taktumi.

Pacific Music Group (PMG), the Pan-Asian global music and entertainment company founded by Ne-Yo, Sonu Nigam, MC Jin, and veteran executive Jonathan Serbin, has announced a partnership with Timbaland’s entertainment company Stage Zero to sign AI artist TaTa Taktumi.

The deal will see PMG serve as TaTa’s manager in Asia and her global record label worldwide. The company will “oversee strategic market positioning, release campaigns, partnerships, media, and long-term brand development across key Asian territories.”

While initially, TaTa made headlines for the negative reaction to AI artists as a concept—and then Timbaland and AI company Suno took a hit for allegedly using stolen music to train AI—the project is now leaning into its “root[s] in human artistry.”

Not “just” an AI artist, TaTa “represents a collaboration between technology and a real artist behind the digital persona.” Pacific Music Group has confirmed that the artist behind TaTa Taktumi is of Filipino heritage. While the artist intentionally wants to keep her personal identity private, the announcement aims to “underscore […] the vision behind TaTa as a bridge between innovation and authenticity, where advanced technology amplifies rather than replaces the voice and cultural roots of a real global artist.”

“TaTa’s story is about convergence, culture, technology, and identity coming together,” said Jonathan Serbin, CEO at Pacific Music Group. “Revealing her human identity at this moment creates the perfect bridge into Asia. This isn’t just a signing; it’s a homecoming. We are proud to support her as she reconnects with her heritage and builds a new cultural movement from it.”

It might seem like a stretch, but the strategy actually makes sense for Asian markets where synthesizer-voice software like Vocaloid (where Hatsune Miku originated) has been a thing for over 20 years. While not AI-generated, it shows an existing interest in hybrid artists that “bridge the gap.”

“Artist development has always been about connecting the imagination of the artist to real people,” Timbaland shared. “At Stage Zero, we are expanding that process, allowing ideas to take shape across music, visuals, and identity in real time, sometimes even in reverse order. TaTa represents a shift towards hyper-creativity. It opens the door for a new generation of artists and a new era of entertainment to emerge.”

PMG will begin rolling out TaTa’s upcoming releases, promotional initiatives, and strategic collaborations across Asia in the coming months.
