Americans Abroad Weekend Rewind: Tillman, Pulisic, and more

Soccer

Malik Tillman’s goalscoring drought for Bayer Leverkusen has ended at 10 matches.

Tillman snapped his lengthy streak on Saturday, scoring his seventh goal of the campaign in a 3-3 Bundesliga draw with FC Heidenheim. The U.S. men’s national team attacker opened the scoring for Kasper Hjulmand’s squad, who eventually saw leads of 2-0 and 3-2 disappear.

Tillman’s 22nd-minute opener gave Leverkusen a 1-0 advantage before Patrik Schick doubled the visitors lead to 2-0 before the interval. However, FC Heidenheim would respond after halftime with Hennes Behrens trimming the hosts’ deficit before Marvin Pieringer added his first goal of the day to equalize.

Schick looked to have given Leverkusen all three points on the road but Pieringer struck a second time for Heidenheim as the two clubs shared the points.

Tillman played 82 minutes from his No. 10 position, logging his final shift before heading to international duty.

Sixth-place Leverkusen will resume league play on April 4 against Wolfsburg.

In England, Antonee Robinson and Brenden Aaronson both started in Premier League play. George Campbell scored in West Bromwich Albion’s road win over Bristol City.
