The race for the 98th Academy Awards is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent years, with vampire period horror film “Sinners” leading the pack after earning 16 nominations ahead of the ceremony in Hollywood on Sunday.
With that feat, “Sinners” has set a new record for the highest number of Oscar nominations, moving past “One Battle After Another,” which received 13 nominations.
Other major contenders this year include “Frankenstein,” “Marty Supreme,” and “Sentimental Value,” each of which secured nine nominations, while “Hamnet” followed closely with eight.
