The State Controller, Kazeem Sholadoye, disclosed this in a statement signed by the service’s Public Relations Officer, Al-Hassan Kantin, on Monday in Kano.

According to him, the service received a distress call at about 3:50 p.m. from No. 281 Kansakali Street, along Goron Dutse Custodial Centre.

He added, “Upon receiving the report, we immediately deployed our firefighters team from the Federal Secretariat station to the scene.”

Mr Kantin said the fire affected a one-storey residential building and had razed a single room as at the time of their arrival.

The Public Relations Officer said that the inferno was ignited as a result of an electrical spark from a Lithium battery system.

He said due to the swift response and professionalism of the personnel, property valued N55 million were saved, while the estimated losses stood at N5 million.

Mr Kantin said, “No casualty was recorded, and the firefighters conducted a thorough inspection to ensure that there was no further risk of fire.”

He advised the residents to only engage certified professionals for the installation of electrical and Lithium battery systems to prevent avoidable fire incidents.
