J.K. Dobbins pushes back on criticism: ‘Go check the numbers’

The Denver Broncos seemingly struck out on every free agent running back they had reached out to, except one: J.K. Dobbins, who returns to Denver on a two-year, $16 million deal. While some fans and pundits were in dismay at the seemingly lackluster signing, Dobbins himself took to social media to defend his record.

“Lol go check the numbers and tell us how many RBs are better 👎,” Dobbins tweeted in a response to player-turned-commentator Tyler Polumbus.

Before Dobbins got hurt in November 2025, he was in the top five running backs in the NFL for rushing yards. Despite not playing the final month and a half of the season and the two playoff games, Dobbins finished as the Broncos’ leading rusher on the year, with 772 yards and four rushing touchdowns.

Dobbins will now aim to stay healthy and play in more than 10 games for just the third time in his career. Dobbins’ contract only includes one year guaranteed, so if needed, Denver can get out of the deal in 2027.

While injury concerns are definitely top of mind when it comes to a deal like this, Dobbins has certainly proven himself to be an explosive playmaker when healthy.
