Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Weah, Cardoso, and more

Soccer

Marseille needs a statement win if its wants to stay in the Ligue 1 title race this winter and Sunday poses a great opportunity to claim one.

Tim Weah and third-place Marseille visit first-place Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday in the headlining contest of the weekend. Weah has delivered a strong start to the year so far, scoring one goal and adding two assists.

The former PSG attacker has transitioned nicely into a wingback role with Marseille, bringing versatility and durability on both sides of the field. Weah most recently set up Marseille’s opening goal in a 3-0 midweek Coupe De France victory over Rennes.

Weah has already made 28 appearances this season for Marseille and will surely add to that total at the Parc Des Princes on Sunday.
