Trabzonspor produced a commanding second-half performance to secure a 3–0 win over Fethiyespor in Group A of the Turkish Cup, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nigerian stars Anthony Nwakaeme, Paul Onuachu and Chibuike Nwaiwu played decisive roles in the Black Sea Storms’ comfortable victory.

After a tight opening hour against the Turkish second-division side, the Süper Lig outfit finally found their rhythm late on.

Ernest Muçi broke the deadlock in the 69th minute, finishing clinically after being set up by Nwakaeme, whose creativity proved crucial in unlocking the opposition defence.

The goal opened the floodgates. Eight minutes later, Nwakaeme capped an impressive display with a goal of his own, cutting inside before unleashing a powerful left-footed effort that flew into the roof of the net.

Trabzonspor’s dominance was complete just two minutes after that when Onuachu, introduced at half-time, calmly tapped home from close range to make it 3–0.

The victory moves the Black Sea Storm to the top of Group A after three matches, taking them to six points and temporarily pushing Galatasaray into second place.

The reigning champions could yet reclaim first spot when they face Istanbulspor on Wednesday, but Trabzonspor’s convincing win has firmly placed them in contention for progression.

For Nwakaeme, the match carried added significance. The goal was his first of the season after a lengthy injury lay-off that kept him out of the early part of the 2025–26 campaign. The experienced winger only returned to the squad in January, and his performance will come as a major boost to both player and club as the business end of the season approaches.

Onuachu, meanwhile, continued his fine scoring form. The towering striker, who started the match on the bench, took his tally to 14 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions.

While Trabzonspor celebrated a morale-boosting win, Fethiyespor remain bottom of the group with just one point, facing an uphill task to keep their Turkish Cup hopes alive.
