Saskatoon police say a woman was found dead outside after overnight lows plummeted to -39C.

Around 7 a.m. on Friday, officers were called to the 2100 block of Airport Drive after people reported finding a woman outside a business. She was pronounced dead by first responders.

Several business complexes line the block of Airport Drive, which is just down from the Saskatoon Inn and Heritage Inn.

The woman’s age and identity was not released, but police say family members have been notified. A cause of death also wasn’t released; according to a news release sent out Monday, the Saskatchewan Coroners Service is investigating.

Police say the death “is believed to be non-suspicious in nature.”

Saskatoon has been in a days-long deep freeze. At 5 a.m. on Friday, around two hours before police were called, the temperature in Saskatoon reached -38.7C, with a wind chill of -51C, according to Environment Canada.
