Oyo Speaker, Ogundoyin Sustain Parents’ Legacy Donates Gifts, Cash For Hundreds Of Widows, Elderly

In a heartwarming display of compassion and community spirit, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, hosted hundreds of widows, elderly citizens, and children from Ibarapa East Local Government to a special festive get-together in Eruwa.

The event, held in the spirit of Christmas and the New Year at the popular Ori-Oke Ogundoyin, featured distribution of food items, clothing materials, and cash gifts to over 1,000 beneficiaries.

The Speaker said the outreach was part of an enduring tradition started by his late father, Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin, and his late mother, Chief Mrs. Tina Ogundoyin, both of whom were known for their philanthropic gestures to the vulnerable in society.

“This is a legacy I grew up witnessing, and I’m proud to sustain it. Supporting the widows, elderly, and children in our community is not only a moral obligation, but a family tradition that has been part of us for decades.”

Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin also used the occasion to celebrate children, who received special treats and gifts in the festive spirit.

He appreciated the support of the people of Ibarapa East and assured them that more developmental projects would be delivered by him in 2026.

He listed some ongoing projects nearing completion, including a block of four classrooms and offices at Temidire, a six-classroom block at Ojonamo, a town hall in Maya, and a public toilet facility.

Completed projects include over 40 boreholes, a maternity center in Lagaye, a mosque at Oloro, and the completion of the Eruwa Youth Movement Secretariat, among others.

He called for unity among PDP members in Ibarapa East and reaffirmed his commitment to impactful representation and inclusive governance.

The program was well-attended by political leaders and stakeholders including the Chairman of the Elders Council in Ibarapa East, Pa Moses Ojoawo, who gave the welcome address; PDP Party Chairman in the LG, Alhaji Ganiyu Aderibigbe; Executive Chairman of the LG, Hon. Kazeem Arogundade, the Iyaloja-General of the Southwest, Chief Mrs. Odunola Danjuma, Chief Sunday Omiagbo, Hon, Gbenga Obalowo among others.
