Penn Adds Spa to Riverboat Replacement Casino in Illinois

Entertainment

American gaming giant Penn Entertainment announced that its new property in Illinois will include a state-of-the-art luxury spa. The facility will be operated by Drift Spa and will be the company’s second such location.

Penn Set to Bring the Aurora Ashore

For context, Penn Entertainment is currently hard at work building its Hollywood Aurora casino. The new property will mark a shift from the existing riverboat casino to a modern land-based location next to the Chicago Premium Outlets.

This move was made possible by a 2019 legislation, which allowed riverboat casinos to move inland. Penn confirmed its decision to take the Aurora casino ashore in 2022 and commenced the construction of the new property in 2023.

Hollywood Aurora is set to bring more of what guests of the old casino have come to expect. As a result, it will have a hotel with 200 rooms, multiple dining options, a parking lot with some 1,700 spaces, and, of course, a casino.

Hollywood Aurora’s casino area will span 12K square feet and will be the home of some 900 slot machines, 50 live-dealer gaming tables, and a sportsbook.

However, it would seem that this was not all as Penn Entertainment has now decided to take things further with the addition of a luxury wellness spa facility.

A Haven Where People Can Step Away from the Pace of Life

The addition of the new facility was made possible by a partnership between Penn Entertainment and Drift Spa. This would notably be Drift Spa’s second location since the opening of the first Drift Spa in Lancaster.

According to the announcement, Hollywood Aurora’s spa center will feature 11 stations for hair, makeup, and nails, and 7 massage rooms. The spa will also offer manicure and pedicure services, as well as nonchemical hair and holistic services.

Stacey Steffes, the founder of Drift Spa, was very pleased with the partnership with Penn. According to her, the new location will introduce a space where visitors of Hollywood Aurora can slow down and relax.
