Police have made two more arrests as part of an ongoing investigation into a huge waste dumping operation in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, the Environment Agency (EA) has announced.

Officers from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit, working with the EA, Thames Valley Police, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and Surrey Police, arrested two men at separate locations, the watchdog said.

A 69- year-old man was arrested on Thursday at a property in Andover while a 54-year-old man was apprehended in Slough, according to an EA statement.

“Both were arrested for environmental and money laundering offences,” the EA said, adding that both suspects have been released on conditional bail pending further investigation.

“The arrests build on an arrest made in November and is another welcome step in delivering justice for the local community,” the EA said.

At the time, Construction News reported that the arrest had been made in connection with illegal fly-tipping of construction and other waste next to the A34 near Kidlington.

Emma Viner, enforcement and investigations manager in the Environment Agency’s national environmental crime unit, described the “illegal dump” at Kidlington as “an atrocious and deliberate attack on our environment”.

She said the latest arrests were “another vital step in collecting new evidence and progressing our investigation”.

EA officials first visited the site on 2 July last year following reports of illegal tipping and issued a cease-and-desist letter.

After officers became aware of continued criminal activity on site in October 2025, a court order was sought and granted to close the site, the agency added.

“Since this was granted on 23 October 2025, no further tipping has taken place” the EA said.

It announced in December that work to clear up the illegal site had begun.
