Super Eagles striker Akor Adams took to social media to congratulate compatriot Salim Fago Lawal following his high-profile transfer from Croatian outfit Istra 1961 to Czech giants Viktoria Plzen, Soccernet.ng reports.

On Wednesday, Salim Fago finalized a record-breaking move to Viktoria Plzen in a deal worth €2.4 million.

The former Flying Eagles star has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the last four years, transitioning from Nigeria’s Mavlon to Istra, and now joining one of the most prestigious clubs in the Czech Republic.

His clinical performances for Istra earned him a maiden Super Eagles call-up for the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

He made one appearance for Nigeria during their campaign, which saw the three-time champions secure a bronze-medal finish.

Now in the Czech top flight, Fago will be looking to make an immediate impact. Following the announcement, he was congratulated bh fellow international teammate, Akor Adams.

Akor Adams and Salim Fago were among the fresh faces in the Super Eagles squad who made their tournament debuts at AFCON 2025. While both were newcomers, Adams emerged as a standout performer.

The Sevilla forward served as Eric Chelle’s joker card, using his intelligent movement to destabilize opposition defenses. His partnership with Victor Osimhen in the final third proved to be a vital asset for the team.

The rapport among Nigeria’s players was seamless. And it appears Adams and Fago clearly striking up a close bond during the tournament.

Sharing the transfer news on his handle, the Sevilla star captioned Fago’s announcement: “Let’s go, star boy.”

The 23-year-old striker arrives as a direct replacement for Rafiu Durosinmi, who departed Viktoria Plzen for Pisa two weeks ago. Fago certainly has big shoes to fill, but he will be hungry to hit the ground running in his new colors.
