As we move into 2026, Bruno Guimaraes has been talking to the media in Brazil.
The Newcastle United captain chatting specifically about his goals.
At the halfway point of this 2025/26 Premier League season, Bruno Guimaraes has already scored six PL goals, only one short of his best ever PL total in 2023/24.
However, it is not just scoring goals, as the United talisman is also creating them, four assists as well in all competitions so far.
With 10 direct goal involvements as we move into 2026, he has his all-time Newcastle United record to aim for, 16 direct goal involvements in 2023/24 in all competitions, when he got nine assists as well as seven goals.
As always though with Bruno Guimaraes, it is all about the team, with personal glory not what motivates him.
Bruno Guimaraes speaking to Globo Esporte:
“It has been a spectacular season [with Newcastle United] for me so far, individually.
“I have managed to maintain the team spirit and commitment but right now I am also contributing [directly] to goals.
“It is not what will dictate what I do on the field but it is definitely an improvement to my game and a step forward.
“It is about maintaining this momentum for the rest of the season and making sure that these numbers help the team achieve its goals.
“I am a player who always tries to be available and give my all in every game.
“These numbers are the result of that dedication, not only in my daily routine, but also in games.
“We have a work ethic and philosophy that prioritises the team over individual performance and that’s what we need to focus on.
“I will continue to give my best and the good numbers are the result of dedication and teamwork.”
When arriving halfway through the 2021/22 season, Bruno Guimaraes managed six direct goal involvements (scored five, one assist) in all competitions.
Then 2022/23 it was nine DG involvements (scored four, five assists), 2023/24 it was sixteen (scored seven, nine assists), then 2024/25 it was twelve (scored five, seven assists).
I have a feeling that Bruno Guimaraes is going to go well past the 16 DG involvements for Newcastle United in the 2023/24 season.
When you add this to his overall game and his leadership…what a player!!!
