The Biebers have had a banner year despite constant stream of online negativity

Despite a constant stream of online negativity, the Biebers have had a banner year: a hit album after a long hiatus and the massive acquisition of Rhode, along with a record-breaking Sephora launch.

I’m not commenting one way or another on the health of their marriage because I don’t know what’s going on. My point is, neither do the TikTok comments.

Hilary Swank got herself into a very Larry David situation when she “snapped” at a woman she thought was taking her photo at LAX. The woman then went on social media and said she wasn’t taking a picture, she was calling her husband because she was starstruck and had never seen a celebrity in person. Turns out, this woman was at LAX for a Make-A-Wish trip for her children.

I think taking pictures of celebrities in the wild is incredibly rude and taking it to social media with “I was trying to find my two terminally ill boys at baggage claim” is definitely not going not win Hilary Swank any points. It was picked up by Daily Mail and the woman in question showed the DM Hilary sent to apologize but asked them not to reproduce it. Her husband (who wasn’t there) weighed in and said celebs shouldn’t be mad about having their photograph taken because of their profession. Now I’m wondering: did they ask the Daily Mail not to print the DM, or is the Daily Mail not allowed to print private correspondence? Meghan Sussex sued them over that once and won.

This morning, Lainey wrote about the Taylor Swift necklace. I agree, a really special piece and I’m not a jewelry person. It’s from Saidan Vintage Jeweler and I’m browsing the site – the brooches are amazing.

Melissa Gilbert, who has been famous for what seems like forever, ran into a cast member of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and her boyfriend Jared Osmond (yes, he’s related to the performing Osmonds, which is apparently a huge freaking deal in Salt Lake City). Melissa seems bewildered by the encounter and I can’t blame her.

People might have thoughts on someone like Diane von Furstenberg hanging with YouTuber IShow Speed but he is 20-years-old with over 42 million Instagram followers and 46.4 million YouTube subscribers. He is influential and while it’s not the kind of influence Diane seeks, generations need to mix more. Gen Z-ers need to explain 6-7 to Boomers and Boomers need to explain the lost art of hanging out with friends, with no schedule or reason, to Gen Z. We can all learn something! Except Gen X, we are perfect.
