AS Roma and Torino will lock horns with each other in the Coppa Italia this week. The last-16 tie between the two Serie A outfits will be held at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome and is scheduled to kick off at 8pm UK time on Tuesday.

AS Roma

AS Roma are one of the biggest clubs in Italy and ended up having a successful season in the 2024-25 campaign. What looked like a campaign to forget was salvaged by then-manager Claudio Ranieri, guiding the team to a fifth-placed finish in the Serie A table.

Gian Piero Gasperini is now the manager of Roma, who are playing in the UEFA Europa League this season. Roma were not expected to win the Serie A title, but they are very much in the race for the Scudetto. Roma are fifth in the league table right now with 39 points from 20 games, four points behind leaders Inter Milan.

Roma will head into the Coppa Italia tie against Torino this week on the back of a 2-0 victory over Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome in Serie A. It came after a 2-0 victory over Lecce on the road in the league, which followed a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Atalanta away from home in Serie A.

AS Roma are likely to line up in a 3-4-1-2 formation against Torino. Mile Svilar will be in goal and will have Daniele Ghilardi, Gianluca Mancini and Mario Hermoso in front of him in defence. Zeki Celik, Niccolò Pisilli, Manu Kone and Kostas Tsimikas will be deployed in midfield. Matìas Soule will be the attacking midfielder. Paulo Dybala and Evan Ferguson will be the two centre-forwards.

Torino

Torino are a major club in Italy and an established team in Serie A. I Granata have done well in the top flight of Italian football in recent years and ended up as high as 11th in Serie A last season.

Marco Baroni’s side are doing relatively well at the moment. Torino currently find themselves 12th in the Serie A table with 23 points from 20 matches.

Torino will head into the Coppa Italia tie against AS Roma on the back of a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Atalanta away from home in Serie A. It came after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Udinese in front of their fans in the league, which followed a 3-0 victory over Hellas Verona away from home in Serie A.
