Spanish La Liga side Valencia have devised a new strategy to sign Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar from Real Sociedad this month, Soccernet.ng reports.

Valencia head coach Carlos Corberan is eager to bolster his attack following a difficult first half of the season.

Los Che currently sit 17th in the La Liga table, languishing with only 15 points from 17 matches. They have one of the poorest offensive records in the league, scoring just 16 goals so far. As such, the club views reinforcing the frontline as a top priority.

Recall that last summer, Valencia were heavily linked with a permanent move for Sadiq.

The Nigerian international had spent the second half of last season on loan at the Mestalla, where he made a significant impact by netting six goals in 19 appearances.

Although Valencia were keen to retain his services, they failed in their attempt for a permanent transfer due to Real Sociedad’s high valuation.

Sadiq Umar joined Real Sociedad from Almeria three seasons ago in a deal worth €20 million. Although he was expected to be a marquee player for the club, injuries kept him sidelined for the better part of his first two seasons.

Hence, his form dropped, meaning that he had to spend more time on the bench. As such, he went on a loan spell at Valencia.

There, he showed glimpses of his old form, and even though Sadiq pushed for a permanent move to Valencia, their financial offer just fell short of what La Real wanted.

However, due to their problems this season, Valencia are returning with a fresh proposal for the Super Eagles striker.

According to Fichajes, Valencia are now pursuing a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option. While the exact figures are not confirmed, the total package could be worth around €4 million.

This offer might prove enticing for Real Sociedad, who are keen to offload, as for earns one of the highest wages even though he is not an important player for the club.

Valencia are desperate to finalize the deal quickly, and Sadiq will still be open to the move. If La Real find Valencia’s offer good enough, the transfer could be completed in the coming days.
